Dr. Robinson uses FDA-approved dermal filler for patients desiring a non-surgical treatment to increase volume, fullness, hydration, and plumping of the lips.  Hyaluronic acid injectable gel is used to augment lips with expected duration up to 1 year and beyond for some patients. Dr. Robinson will perform a thorough history and exam during your consultation to create a treatment plan to help you achieve your desired result. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance found throughout our body, serving several roles including lubrication, wound healing, skin repair, and tissue hydration. Because our body naturally creates the degradation enzyme hyaluronidase, hyaluronic acid filler is temporary and dissolvable.  

Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers have several distinctive gel characteristics including firmness, spreadability, water absorption, and hyaluronic acid concentration. Dr. Robinson will decide which product is appropriate for your treatment plan according to your aesthetic goals. 

After your consultation, Dr. Robinson will apply topical numbing cream to sit on the lips for 15-20 minutes prior to injection using a small needle. Alternatively, some patients prefer to undergo a block of the nerves that supply sensation to the lips. This is achieved by injecting areas inside the mouth with lidocaine and provides a more “dense” pain block throughout the lip injection procedure.
