Post-Procedure Care for Botox Injection
Post-procedure care is very important. Unnecessary pain and complications including swelling, bruising, and diffusion of Botox away from the intended treatment area can be minimized if these instructions are followed carefully.
Following Injection:
• Remain upright for 4-6 hours
• Avoid massaging the treatment area for the remainder of the day
• Avoid vigorous exercise for the remainder of the day
• Use acetaminophen (Tylenol) as directed on package if needed (avoid ibuprofen (Advil) or other NSAIDs for 24 hours post injection)
• Avoid facials and other facial procedures and treatments (such as lasers, microdermabrasion, microneedling, dermaplaning, etc.) for 24 hours
• Avoid caffeine, alcohol, and nicotine for 24-48 hours after injection
• Gently wash face the night of treatment
• Seek medical treatment immediately if you experience any symptoms of difficulty speaking, swallowing, or breathing
After injection, full results should appear by day 14 with an expected duration of 2-4 months.
